I cannot use the google search as any " x " where X = the letter after A gets me a ookmark search not the letter after A

This should only happen if you press Cmd+B.

You could alway try dumping FF's cache and prefs files, if the app's interface/input has gone wonky.

thanks the pro_lem seems to me my wireless key _oard. in the past the "A" triggered the caps lock and I called aapl and i did the usual ( pram etc) that seemed more random that focussed and then that pro_lem wen away.

\as I was fiddleing _fore your reply the _ letter is indeed Cmd+_ now

will call aapl monday

also the key after 4 and _fore 6 does not work either "sdfgbs"

I got that collecttion of 6 letters "_" y typing very fast in the lower key_oard area. the cmd_ "_" was also triggered
