Hi all,
I'm not sure I understand the difference between Projects and Folders in Aperture 1.5.4. I know Albums contain photos and Folders can contain several albums, but what is the purpose of a Project? If it's to contain several Folders, doesn't that seem redundant since you can nest Folders?

Could someone please clarify?

Aperture turns each roll into a separate project. Think of projects as individual image libraries — each project can have its own photos, Albums, Books, and Web Galleries (see “Project View”).

You can create new Projects, move images and Albums between Projects (by dragging the selected items onto the Project’s name), or group multiple Projects within a folder to create your own organization scheme.

Aperture's library has the following basic organization structure in terms of what you see as a user:

Project - Basic unit of organization
Folder - Contained within a project or another Folder
Album - Contained within a project or a folder
Light Table, Web Gallery, etc.. - Same containment structure as Albums

Thanks for the info - it clarified most of this quite a bit. I have a related question. I just created a new project by "importing a folder to a project..."

i'm not sure why my project shows (0) photos inside it, even though the albums for that project contain photos. i did this once before and the project shows the total photos underneath it. have a look:

this one is incorrect:

this one is how I would like the previous project to display:

any ideas?
