Every time I try to quit Safari (3.0.3) I get the beach balloon and must Force Quit, regardless if I have 10 tabs or just one. This has been going on since beta. I did reset but that didn't help.
Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.

I think it's a Flash incompatibility issue with the Safari 3 beta. Downgrade to the stable Safari 2.

Interestingly my experiences with Safari 2 are just the opposite: It crashes more often than I quit it manually.

I have the same problem but it started before the v. 3 beta
I was also having the same problem on my old machine - it must have been brought forward with my home files - prefs, etc.
trashing my safari prefs has not solved it
brand new machine with fresh install of apps
I wonder if it's a third party plug in - flash, java, flip4mac, etc

Clean your history, empty your cache, trim down your auto-complete forms and empty your RSS feeds and see what happens. Repair permissions too.

Also, delete the contents of the ~/Library/Safari/Icons folder.

Well I did all of the above and I still had problems quitting Safari. However, what did seem to work was a deep system cache cleaning, as well as user cache cleaning, using the app MainMenu. Then repaired permissions and rebooted. So far so good. It (Safari) is running at the speed it used to and quits on demand.
Thanks for replies.

Just as a follow up I've set it up from scratch. New prefs, deleted the caches, etc. It worked fine for a while but it still crashes on quit.
I didn't turn on the debugging extras this time.
I'm leaning toward memory issue with tabs or a plug in thing.
just sent bug report
