Is there a way to fool iTunes into thinking it's burning a CD, but instead "burns" the files into mp3's to a specified folder?

You gotta tame the beast before you let it out of its cage.

Or, if the files are already mp3, just drag them right out of iTunes into a Finder folder.

In that case, it won't burn mp3s to a CD, either.

If you tell iTunes to burn an mp3 CD, it will ONLY burn those files that are mp3 ALREADY. Files are not converted for burning (AFAIK - unless they've changed this recently).

Ya...I know I could do that, but I don't want to dig through my music files to find which are mp3 and AAC+. Plus, I don't want to waste a disk...hence my question. I'm just wondering if i can "fool" my puter into thinking that it's burning to disk...

Sorry if I wasn't clear...

I mean that if I have AAC protected music. Of course you can burn AAC protected to AIFF. But can you make it that you fool your computer into thinking that it's burning to a disc to AIFF but not actually burning to a disc but actually "burning" to a folder in your finder (in order not to waste cd's)?

Could you burn the music to a disc image using Toast (or similar) then re-import into iTunes?

I don't think that Toast will convert protected aac files.
