I noticed how slow it is to have adobe open pdf documents in Safari...

Does anyone know how to change the my default program adobe reader to Preview in Safari?

ie. Instead of adobe launching automatically to open up my pdf documents in Safari, I woluld like the program Preview to be the default application to open all my pdf documents in SAFARI.

many thanks,
gotan

That's an easy one. Select a PDF file and use Get Info to display its specifics. One of the items will be "Open With." Select Preview instead of Adobe Reader. Now the trick: click on the "Change All" button, and all PDF files will be set to open with Preview. Safari should now open PDFs using Preview because it's now the default app for PDF files.

(I use Firefox instead of Safari, and on my iMac and MacBook Pro I find Adobe Reader about as fast as Preview.)

Quit Safari. Do a search for "AdobePDFViewer.plugin" and delete it. Restart Safari.

I'm surprised Safari uses a plug in over the global "open with" setting...that's what I get for making a statement without testing it (I don't use Safari most of the time).
