I am a running a Powermac G5 dual 1.8 with the latest OS X, and I cannot run Firefox at all, it asks if I want it to be the default browser, and then it freezes, every time, I have to force quit. I have tried deleting firefox, reinstalling it, and I've had no luck. (I've also tried the usual, rebooting, relogging, etc.)

A fairly thorough search through google has left me clueless still....

Just use Safari? I never had a need for FireFox. Every time I've used it its been dodgy.

Have you deleted all traces of Firefox from your user's Library folder? Can you run it from a different user?

Why would you have to do that?

Well, the assumption is that some lingering Firefox support file is causing the problem.

I have never had problems with Firefox, either on my wife's G4 iBook or my Intel-based Macs. I agree with Big Mac that there's some sort of old preference or support file that's goobered and is thus freezing Firefox. However, I'd make sure it WAS a Firefox problem by checking that some other browser does work. If browsing works with Safari or some other browser, then it's time to hunt down the broken Firefox file and eliminate it.
