We don't know for sure whether CS3 will run on Leopard or not. Adobe is saying they can't guarantee that CS3 will run properly on Leopard because they "won't be able to test it until the final version of Leopard ships." Which is, IMHO, a bunch of bull. They have access to the prerelease versions of the operating system and they can test their applications with that and start making any changes necessary to make them work.

In all likelihood CS3 will work just fine on Leopard. There may be a few bugs/glitches but Adobe will fix them or face howls of protest from their customers. So, don't worry about it. You'll most likely be just fine.

Apple vs. Adobe again?

I don't think companies will deploy Leopard right after the launch date.

No. Anyone who tells you that is a complete alarmist tool.

One of the things Adobe said a long time ago was that they were changing the way things are cached, and so with CS3 had to make two versions of the code: an inferior cacheing mechanism that worked with 10.4, and a version that they were working with Apple to tune much better, but that would only work on 10.5.

So what it sounds like is that they are really pushing what is possible, and so have to wait until all of the dust settles to really know if things work 100%.

Nobody can give you a definite answer because Leopard is not yet done. And that is all what Adobe ever said. They just don't know whether it will run without any issues. That of course doesn't mean it will have issues. I'm sure that Apple's goal is to be fully backwards compatible with existing binaries. CS3 is an important application package for Mac, so Apple will definitely check whether it runs fine before releasing Leopard.

Currently there are quite a few issues with running Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Mac OS X Leopard, but then again Apple's own iWork '08 suite doesn't exactly work the way it should on 10.5 either.

Adobe has no interest in having CS not work with Leopard. They will fix any glitches pdq.
