Hey, I'm currently putting together a DVD of my sister's wedding. I had one camera sitting stationary and I walked around getting other shots with a second camera. Does anyone have any tips as far as an easy way to put the good "walk-around" clips into the main video stream without having to meticulously splice each clip?

So, you want a continuous timeline, and to be able to switch smoothly from one camera angle to another without splicing by hand? I think you need more sophisticated video editing software than iMovie.

yeah, you're going to have to get final cut express at the least. or something else with 2 track or more video.

Agree with adam. I'm loving FCE. Here's a tip - you can save some money if you buy the FCE 1.1 full + FCE HD 3.5 bundle from megamacs.com.

Hmm, I helped a friend create a screen test along a similar line using a simple copy of iMovie (all they had), import your clips, label then organise them according to content, import one angle, crop end off it, import second angle and crop the beginning off, frustrating way to do it, but it works?

That's the 'meticulously splicing each clip' option.

Considering the guy's trying to splice together the footage of a wedding I'm not sure he's going to want to invest in FC?!?

But if he doesn't want to splice (like he says he doesn't) then he does have to invest in FCE or an alternative multitrack video editing system.

Yeah, I have one week to get this done and a budget of $0.

I checked and there is one Mac lab here on campus that offers computer with FCP. I hope the learning curve on that's not too bad, I think I'll try it out, I've never used anything but iMovie.

FCP should be fairly easy to use for just the basic 2 track thing. Try not to get to frustrated, though, learning the first few things can be maddening.

Okay, I'm on a 2.66GHz Mac Pro now (only 1GB of RAM...ugggg), and it turns out it's Final Cut Express. We'll see how this goes.
