I need to view an mbox folder that is 5 gigs, it's from mail app, but all I need to do is see the files like they were in the mail app and search through them. The import keeps locking mail up.

Anyone ? Or would you know of another program or better way for faster retrieval in the future?

I don't think Mail uses mbox any longer, but if it does I might suggest taking a look at it with another client such as Pine or Thunderbird.
