I just bought a new MacBook and I need Microsoft Office. I was wondering if there was a diffrence between the Student and Teacher Edition and just the regular Microsoft offie. Thanks

The Student/Teacher edition gives you 3 licenses for 3 Macs in the household, but the license agreement prohibits you from using it to make money or use it in a business. Aside from that, the programs are the exact same for all editions.

As for the 2008 edition, well, you don't get Exchange support in the Home and Student edition. But on the upside, if you buy Office 2004 today, you can upgrade to Office 2008 for just $10.

For the first time, I decided NOT to install my version of Microsoft Office on my latest Mac. I used Apple's Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. I find that I like them a lot better than Office. I doubt I'll go back. They run faster, are easier to update, and don't slow my machine down like Office did. Plus, a 5-computer license was a LOT cheaper!

You may want to reconsider your choice.

Well, I much prefer to use a $79 iWork '08 than a pricier MS Office suite on my Mac. However, I'm sure there are some Mac users out there who would like to stick with MS Office suite.

At work, I have a copy of iWork '08 installed on my workstation as well as the company supplied MS Office 2004. I use Entourage for email (Exchange Server) and Excel (since Numbers will not open my timesheet in .xls file format). Other than that, I use Pages and Numbers for exchanging files between my co-workers.

Speaking of Office update, it's a pain! The most current Mac Office 2004 updater from Microsoft is version 11.3.7 (8.6 MB). However, in order to install that update I need to have 11.3.6 (15.2 MB) and 11.3.5 (58.8 MB). Typical Microsoft.

I like the title of this thread: Mircosoft Office.

Microsoft USA, but Mircosoft from the balkan countries.
