We have a lab of 13 networked mac minis with ARD 3.1 installed, one computer being the administrator. The admin computer is connected to clients through admin accounts and all client computers are given full privileges in Remote Desktop preferences.
I am trying to gather students' files on client computers to the admin computer. This is what I tried:
- Spotlight search will see the files but will not allow me to copy them to the admin computer. In the results window, if I click on the remote file, I don't see its path and if I try to copy it, it won't work. However I noticed that if the remote user is logged in in his account, I see the path in the result window and I am able to copy it. I want to be able to copy files to my computer whether the remote user is logged in or not.
- Reports...File Search will work fine as long as ARD finds the file. And it doesn't always. Sometimes, ARD doesn't find a file that actually exists on the remote computer.

I am totally frustrated because after several posts in the Apple Discussions forum, I still don't have a solution to this problem. Thank you for your help.

I've never had an issue with the Spotlight finding. Just find the file with spotlight, and then drag the file from the Spotlight window to your machine.

When the student is not logged in, this is what I see:

The path of the file is not showing and I can't copy to my computer.
