Ok not literally, but my eyes are literally starting to TWITCH because i just CANNOT find a way to resize my damn photos!
I just got an imac about 2 weeks ago and have been searching high and low for a way to resize my photos that i upload form my camera. I understand the point of iPhoto is to keep original photos, but good lord, i would like to SHARE my photos wthout having people yell at me for seeing my subject's pores in photos because they take up more than the screen!!
I've tried:
the ''export'' way, but NOPE doesn't EXIST. tehre is no way to scale down photos...
downloading: iZoom,iResize,EasyCrop. And NOPE! those don't work either.
I mean really, does no one else in the world of people with imacs, like to share their photos? I cannot comprehend why there isn't something to downsize photos..
I would love to be able to resize them( even jsut for the time being) so i can easily send them through an IM or e-mail.
so please, I would appreciate any kind of help!!
Thanks, sorry this was a little long, I'm just so tired of looking!

Sure there is.

You can also send the photos straight to Mail from iPhoto, and it will give you a few convenient pre-set sizes to scale it to (Full Size, Large, Medium, and Small).

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

iPhoto 7.0 Help (iLife '08): Exporting photos for use in other applications
In the File Export pane, change the desired options:

Kind: Choose a file format for your exported images from the Format pop-up menu.

“Current” exports the photo in its current format. If you imported a RAW-format photo and then edited it in iPhoto, the photo is saved as a JPEG, so the photo will be exported as a JPEG. “Original” exports the photo as it was originally imported into iPhoto, before editing.

If you choose JPEG format, select the quality of the JPEG from the pop-up menu. The higher the quality, the bigger the photo, so if you are sending the images via email, you may want to choose Low quality to speed the email.

If you choose JPEG or TIFF, select the “Titles and keywords” checkbox if you want the titles and keywords exported with the photos.

Size: For email or web use, choose Small or Medium, depending on your connection speed. For higher-resolution printing, choose Large or Full-size, the exact size of the actual picture.

If necessary, select Custom to scale images to a specific size by specifying a maximum width and height.

File Name: Choose whether to export photos in sequence, or by their filenames, iPhoto titles, or album name.

If you chose Sequential, type the word you want to use as the prefix for the number sequence. For example, if you want to identify all the photos as part of a surfing sequence, you could type “Surf” in the “Prefix for Sequential” field. This is optional, so you can choose to leave the field blank.
I imagine the help documents contain similar instructions.

Nothing personal zeebbrraa, but I love it when people come screaming into the forums shouting about an issue and how they have tried "the ''export'' way, but NOPE doesn't EXIST. tehre is no way to scale down photos...", when the solution is a click or two away.

oh me too.
I'm from NY so everything is ''rush-rush need it fast'' haha. I do apologize though it's only because I've been looking it up for so long and nothing seemed to work the first few times I tried it, but I got it
Nothing personal taken since I'm the same way!

I use a snazzy little piece of freeware called---ta da! --- iResize. Incredibly simple and efficient . It will automatically Save As... so you still have your original image at original size. I found it thru the selections at Pure Mac: Software for Macintosh It is especially useful if you only need to do a few images' worth , say for e-mail ...but it also does Batch processing of a list of files or a folder's worth so long as they all go too the same width or height in pixels ( no brainer...group your pix into folders of horizontals and verticals then batch each set at once).

Another means to solve debraa's resizing problem is to use a paid copy of Graphic Converter ( best $ 35 you'll ever spend on Mac software! ) , which has an outstanding Browser ( looks like both LightRoom and Aperture ) and will plug in to Photoshop , Elements , or iPhoto or anything else seamlessly. Graphic Converter will also Batch Process any number of images. And it has some nice editting tools and options that Photoshop has yet to wake up to....

I do not use iPhoto for anything. Becasue it has to load in the whole damn Library of photos to go to work. And it's a dunce.

If all your photos are in iPhoto then the easiest thing is just to File > Export and resize them, if you need the resized images. If you want them to email someone, use the Mail command in iPhoto.

If you have a folder full of images that you want resized, make an Automator workflow that will ask you what size you'd like them resized to and save it as a finder plugin. It's free, easy, and comes with every Mac.
