I've had my Macbook for just about, or a little over, a year now. No modifications, no fancy stuff added, just straight off the line. Recently, I've been having issues with the DVD player where it will play my disc for a minute or two, then shut down, saying there's an error with the disc. I recently bought a brand new DVD, inserted it, and the same problem, so I know it's not the disk. Anyone gone through something like this or have some advice, it would really be appreciated. Thanks!!

What version of OS X are you running? Have you recently installed anything -- new software, new hardware?

I'm running 10.4.10. Haven't installed anything recently except for the system updates that pop up from time to time.

Start by deleting the DVDPlayer.plist file, located in your home folder > Library > Preferences.

Done. Tried it again, and it's still locking up on me. It won't play more than a second or two before freezing. It's like it tries to keep going, but can't.

I'm out of ideas for now. A work-around is to install VLC Player, until you get the DVD Player app resolved.
