MacPar deluxe 'CPU' hog in a MacPro?

Ive been having 'problems' w MacPro delux.

while working my MPro is very sluggish. MPD does not seem to use more than 50% CPU and sometimes less, but programs open very slowly and while watching live HDTV w my MIglia mini HD there are short pauses and the live action stutters.

I have 3 GB RAM in the MPRo

will adding 4 more help?
