I have FCP 5.1 and DVD Studio Pro 4. I made markers in FCP, however when I export to DVD Studio Pro the markers aren't there.

This is what I did:
When I was in FCP I tried exporting via compressor but it doesn't seem to have an option to export the markers, I tried it anyway in the hope that it would still export the markers but it didn't.

So I then tried (in FCP) Export to QuickTime Movie and there are various settings you have to select, amongst these I selected DVD Studio Pro Markers, then exported.

Then opened DVD Studio Pro and imported this quicktime movie, it imports but without the markers.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

When you placed the markers on your FCP timeline, did you set them as chapter markers? To do this, set your playhead on a marker and press "m". This should bring up a marker editing window. That's where you set the marker as a chapter marker.

Compressor does give you the option to include "DVD Studio Pro MetaData". Select the appropriate mpeg2 setting, then go to the inspector window. Below the description is a series of buttons, click the last one. You should see the metadata option there.
I gotta have more cowbell.

I need to make a correction in regards to exporting chapter markers with Compressor. I was going from memory yesterday, and well, I was close.

The location of the chapter marker settings is located by pressing the 2nd button (labeled as "Encoder") in the Inspector window. When that button is pressed, a series of tabs is revealed. The last tab (extras) is where the check boxes for including Chapter markers is located.
I gotta have more cowbell.
