I use Mac Address Book for my personal contacts and other contacts I know I'll need on an on-going basis. However, I don't like to add temporary contacts or people who are marginal to my life, but whose contact info I may need to look up at some point. Are there address book alternatives that I could install to manage those contacts separately without cluttering up Mac Address Book? I suppose Entourage would be one of these options, but since it's a suite with other functions as well, I would rather avoid it. Any other small basic address book apps that might be suitable? It does not need to (should not) integrate with Mac Addresss Book.

Thanks.

Why don't you create Groups or Smart Groups for the two groups of people? For example you could add "temporary" or "marginal" to the note field of a temporary contact and then have one Smart Group with all contacts that contain this and another Smart Group with all contacts that don't contain this for all the regular people.

Or do the opposite and add "VIP" to the note field of important people and have them in a Smart Group.

Thanks. That's a good suggestion. I guess I just don't like the idea of all those extra people (ex. 5 people in an organization or company who I may need to contact sometime, but otherwise I don't care to know about) in my main Address Book. Smart Groups are great, but the entries would still be there when I view "All" records. I guess I prefer to keep them separate altogether.

Lay the smack down and make your company set up a LDAP server. :-P
