I've been a long time Entourage user, but am considering changing to Mail since Apple has the apple data detectors as well as Yahoo Mail address sync, and I hear Leopard mail is pretty sweet.
I like Entourage since it has the mail/address/calendar all in one.
I also need to sync my Stuff with my Palm Zire 72 (yes I still use a Palm)
I'm running a Mac mini intel core duo.
Any thoughts?
Option 1. Stay Entourage and upgrade to Intel friendly Entourage 08 (not sure if it will support palm sync)
2. Switch to Mail in Leopard (getting that next week)

iSync says that it is compatible with the Palm Zire family, so syncing with Mail, Address Book, and iCal should be sorted out.
The only 'issue' I can see is getting everything out of Entourage and into Mail, Address Book and iCal.

I just switched, been using mail now 2 Days and it's very nice! I always used iCal and HAD to use address book when I got my iPhone so all the addresses are saved. Mail imported all my entourage mail (around 25,000 messages in 20+ folders) quickly and pretty much perfectly. After a little reorganization it is all setup how I like it. Starting mail is quicker and loads heavy html messages much faster, notes are great too! Very happy so far.
One thing I miss or don't see the option for, when you click get mail the only status you see is if there actually is mail coming in. How do I know if gmail is being slow and not connecting? Am I missing something here?

I've liked Mail since 10.4. The 10.5 improvements are nice as well. They are equally matched. However, I just prefer Entourage's right-hand reading pane (and dislike the hack that's available for Mail for right-hand reading). Entourage 2008 is a very nice improvement over 2004. If there wasn't going to be a 2008 version, I'd probably switch to Mail.

Having adopted Leopard, I'd like to switch from Entourage to Mail, mainly because I've always hated that huge database file, and want Time Machine to do incremental backup of my mail, instead of saving a huge 3GB file every time I get a new email message. (Also, it now looks like Spotlight is no longer indexing my mail).
Anyways, when trying to import my existing mailboxes, Mail is failing to find Entourage! It recommends "try opening Microsoft Entourage first, then run the import." Of course, Entourage is already running. I've tried quitting it and restarting, rebooting, exiting other apps, etc. It's just not seeing Entourage.
I've got dozens of folders, and to export them and import them as mbox files would be a major time sink... so if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. AppleScript can find Entourage just fine, insofar as I've got some scripts in my Entourage Scripts menu that work fine. So, I'm flummoxed.

Oh, and just to clarify... I'm using the latest version of Entourage, 2004 - not a beta of 2008 or anything. And I'm using Mail 3.0 - everything's up to date.

I used Entourage for awhile too... that is until I discovered Apple Mail I guess I just didn't need something as complex as Entourage considering the only thing I ever used it for was just sending and receiving emails. It was also nice to finally rid myself of Microsoft!
