So now the hologram effect and others are missing from iChat?

Seriously? Why hype that cool stuff up to pull it later?

iChat has actually gone backward, and won't connect to a jabber server with encryption if the hostname in the username doesn't match the actual server hostname (cert hostname matches actual server hostname).

Not that I ever use video chatting but I wanted to check out the backdrop effects and cant because my iMac is a G5 and not Intel.

Anyone know why it doesnt work on the G5? I know the computer is fast enough to do it. 2.1gz G5 with 1.5g of ram.

Sounds like your computer isn't fast enough. The system requirements say Photobooth and Backdrop effects require Core Duo or better. One dual 2.7 G5 user tells me some, but not all of the effects are available to him, so it sounds like it's just a performance issue.

I have the original hologram effect from dev builds and the security and retro screensavers if they are wanted.

The security and retro screen savers are also located in the Developer tools.

Security is just brilliant. Retro for some reason doesn't work properly when securing screen savers with a password.

yes they are. Some have had trouble getting them out apparently, though.
