Gentlemen,

I wonder if there is a way to remove the annoying speech notification
everytime I decompress/expand a RAR/ZIP/SIT/etc file with StuffIt Expander 12.

I searched in all preference panels of the entire StuffIt suite and
even in the system preferences. I am using MacOSX 10.4 with the latest update.

Thank you for your attention!
And what a wonderful forum is this! A lot of great info!

PS. This is my comeback to Mac world...
It is around 6 years since the last time I did use a Macintosh for the last time.

Cheers,
G.

Just to say welcome 'spitfire'

That is a really annoying behaviour, it is not like stuffit wasn't yet annoying enough… have you looked into alternatives to stuffit expander like the unarchiver?

The Unarchiver 1.6 - MacUpdate

Thank you Angelmb for your kind words.
I will check carefully the link about the Unarchiver.

I am very happy to finally return to the Mac OS world after so
many years struggling in the wild side.

Yeah, Stuffit is terrible. I second the recommendation for Unarchiver. It can't do .sitx but those are pretty rare thankfully.

Just to update the scene:

It is not my StuffIt who is "speaking" the alert notifications!
The guilty guy is GROWL. I just found out some options
for notifications using speech inside its preferences.

Thaks guys!
