That's his best bet. I used that for years until my father finally got the idea and got DSL. Thankfully I worked at my university so I could have my fun there.

i write about it because the AOL program is not working correctly and i want to see it fixed.
I am curious if others are having the same trouble as me....or is it just me?

i realize i can configure Mail or another program to read AOL mail....but AOL is more than just mail, it has chat-rooms, news, and other things i often use.

Then contact AOL. This is not an AOL support forum. You are a paying customer - it is in their best interest to give you a hand.

The Mac where I have AOL software installed is not ready to use, I am in the process to change its multiple fans, so until I get them I can't test it, I have to rely on web-mail… sorry.

A work around:
Access AOL via Safari or Firefox , e,g., AOL.com - Welcome to AOL. Don't know about other browsers.
The product is not identical to the AOL client, but all the essentials are there, well, you can send and receive mail and your contacts/address book is available.

I use AOL Connect to dial up to AOL and it works in Leopard. It does have bugs though, and I haven't been able to find a good contact link for support from AOL for it.

Also, the AOL Service Assistant worked for me in Leopard… btw, have you tried it with beta 3 yet?

Do you have any WebKit or Safari hacks installed? Perhaps its new mail composition engine works like Mail, in that it uses WebKit to compose the message.

hum… no Safari hacks installed since I don't use Safari that much really (something that's going to change with Safari 3 though)

There is no need for AOL software at all. If you have an AOL email account, just use Mac Mail.

AOL is aware of the problem. I can't believe it's taking this long to get it fixed. AOL has never been Mac-friendly.

Sure and works great, but a true client like the extinct AOL OpenRide would be really cool.

I need to use it since my Mom still uses dialup, as it's the only thing available where she lives, aside from satellite, which she won't spring for.

So you live with your Mom, and she uses AOL as her ISP. Aren't there any other ISPs available to her? That would be very unlikely. If she can dial to AOL, she ought to be able to dial to Earthlink, for example.

that's like saying photoshop isn't working properly....so my suggestion to you is that you should install graphic converter or use preview.

Why don't you use Apple Mail as your email program?

Or any other IMAP client for that matter....

Reggie: sometimes you have to be accepting that when you are dealing with companies that there are some things that will not work on the Mac like they do in Windows - this applies to your MS Map site too... However, there are almost always alternatives. I suggest choosing the path of least resistance.

Why would she switch? She has the AOL dialup for $9.95/mo. and she doesn't want or need to change. So what was the point of this post, aside from being a huge *********? And I don't live with her, I just support her computer.
