Hey yall,
When I migrated from my HP (lame, i know) to my MacBook, a lot of the files in iTunes broke the links with their respective files, not all, but a lot. So I found an Applescript to fix this, but I really need it to run through my entire library to cleanse out the broken links. Is there any way I can set up Automator to do this? Ideas? Thanks!

Ummm...

Delete and re-add?

That site has scripts that will go through and delete missing files, then you can re-add all the music.

How can you not have time for it?

You run the script and delete all the missing files, then you drag your music folder onto the iTunes icon, iTunes will go through the folder and all it's subfolders and add any songs it doesn't have links to. Almost all of the information that iTunes uses is stored in the songs themselves (You'll lose playcount, but hey, time is money)

I have a similar problem: My library is on an external disk connected to an AirPort Extreme. AirDisk under Leopard doesn't auto-mount the disk, so whenever iTunes is launched and I have forgotten to mount the disk, my library location switches to my home folder (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/) and I get all those exclamation marks.

If I quit iTunes, mount the disk in the finder, and then re-launch itunes, it can find those tracks...but only if I double click every one. Unfortunately, there are hundreds. Anyone know of a way to go through them automatically?

How did it come to this? Goodbye PowerPC. | sensory output
