whenever i put in a dvd there is a green grid all over the screen. i just put in a disk and it happened. it was all working perfectly well last night. any ideas? what should i do? are there other programs i can use?

No idea what is happening, but alternatively you can use VLC to watch DVDs. Maybe that will work for you.
