Leopard Mail: Image Map Links not working

I have received an email containing an image map. In Tiger Mail, and MS Entourage 2004 (in Tiger), the image contains many clickable items that open various web pages. In Leopard Mail (have not tried Entourage) the image is displayed but it is not clickable. Is this broken or am I missing something? And please don't suggest the View > Message > Alternative menu since all those items are grayed out.
