Music stops playing randomly in iTunes

A few months ago, I started noticing that iTunes would stop randomly every now and then whatever song was playing. It would not freeze. It even turned the pause button back to the play button, as if I hit stop in iTunes. I could then hit play, and it would resume normally. It's been doing it more and more with any song, not just one. Also, if I replay the song from the start, it won't stop again, which makes me think it's not a problem with the MP3, especially since the same MP3s worked for years before this. I shrugged it off as a software problem, and thought 10.5 would fix it with a Archive and Install. But no, it still does it.

Any ideas? Could this somehow be a hardware bug?

Thanks

I just started having this issue with the latest security update for 10.5
Very odd indeed - I can actually see the pause/play switch as if there were an invisible mouse that is controlling that
I think it is a software bug.

Do you have iTunes enabled has your internet sound control? Although if you do I don't think this is causing the trouble unless your surfing the net at the same time. Also I don't know how you turn it off! Just incase anyone starts asking.

Just to check: Does this happen even when you're not doing anything at your computer, or does it only happen when you're typing?

I *think* it does it even when I'm not typing. I can't be 100% sure though.

This is also affecting CD and DVD playbacks (even on the DVD player app)
