Safari Unexpected Quits

I have 2 desktops and a MacBook Pro 2.4 with 10.5. With increasing frequency Safari is having unexpected quits. The program seems to slow with incomplete page downloads then quit. One of my desktops is the 3.0 4-core, brand new that came with 10.5 installed so upgrading cannot be a problem with that machine. I have had 2 or three other program quits on the machines, sporadically, since the upgrade of the other 2 units. Anybody else getting programs quitting?

Safari has been very unreliable for me since I upgraded to 3.
It has been very buggy both in 10.4 and 10.5 - I was hoping this problem would be fixed in Tiger but I guess not.
I am getting unexpected quits and just beach balls where I have to do a force quit.

I have been getting "Malware" ads pop up on occasion, that seems to cause a quit. What is going on? It just appears and makes a new large window covering the whole screen.

I've had just the opposite happen. Safari 3 for 10.5 has worked better/faster than 2 did for me. And I was decently happy with version 2.

Do you guys have any Safari add-ons installed? Because Apple doesn't support these, they break all the time and often bring down Safari with them. The first thing I would do is uninstall them to see if your problems go away, and then experiment with an upgraded version.

Does Safari do the same thing on another OS X account on that same machine?

Sometimes they can be installed without your direct knowledge. Defenitely check /Library/InputManagers and ~/Library/InputManagers. Those folders should be empty or not exist at all. Also remove the following if you have any: /Library/Preference Panes/Application Enhancer.prefpane, / Library/Frameworks/Application Enhancer.framework, /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Application Enhancer.bundle.
If that doesn't help, an actual look at the crash report might give a hint about the root of the problem.

In "/Library/InputManagers" there is something called Smart Crash Reports. What is this, can I throw it away?

It's a hack that allows developers to send crash reports to them instead having them sent to Apple. So some third-party applications install this (behind the user's back) Like all InputManager-hacks this can cause problems. Throw it away, reboot, and see whether it makes a difference with Safari.

I've been having most bizarre Safari behaviour, today after a couple of quits, when I reopened Safari it had added a whole bunch of bookmarks to the bookmarks bar. All of them were for Apple, Youtube, Facebook etc, but I didn't put them there. Is that weird? Should I panic?
This has all been happening since upgrade to 3

I have SafariBlock installed. And still have no problems with 10.5 and the newest Safari.
At first it didn't work right, then I set my permissions correctly and it booted up fine.
Do NOT install Acid search yet. It's horrible.
