Can someone explain the Notes feature to me?

My email is setup using IMAP for all accounts now that Gmail offers that. Aside from usual IMAP headaches, no problems there.

Why is it now that when I create a Note its emailing anything out at all? When I create a new email, I then get the "option" to send, or click done. When I look down at the activity, its sending items. If I go log into gmail's web interface, there's my note. Maybe I'm using it wrong, and Apple went their own way with "Notes" and how they are used.. but can someone explain to me why the notes are being emailed out at all? Are they just a special type of email that shows up as a note?

Yes.

How do you expect the message to get from your local client to the remote server? There is an option to not store them on the server, you know. Would be great if you could specify which folder you wanted them kept in on the server, though.

hmm, looks like Notes aren't what I want then. I think I'm going to just go back to using Stickies

I actually don't want notes to go from local -> remote, but if they do, to show up remotely as a Note, as it does in Outlook and Mail the local client... I dont want another email in my inbox remotely.

Go to your Mail Preferences -> Composing and set your "Create notes and to dos" to "On My Mac". This will prevent them from being pushed up to your IMAP server.
