I still can't get Safari 3 to play nice with QT 7.3. Most sites with QT just show the dreaded "?". Sometimes reloading the site works, maybe 1 out of 5 times. Sometimes choosing a different user agent works but not often. Also some sites work and some don't. None of this happened with Safari 2.

I'm reinstalled QT 7.3 and a fresh clean copy of Safari 3 via Pacifist. Deleted the plists. I have NO input managers or hacks.

Could there be some conflict with internet plugins? If I remove one of the 2 QT plugins it works ok unless I click on a link to see a QT clip and then it says the plugin is missing. Reinstalling the plug in then makes the imbedded AT images have the "?" but the QT clip plays.

This is getting very frustrating. Any suggestions on how to proceed to figure this out?

Thanks,

After trying almost everything I finally deleted Abode Flash, Perian, Flip4Mac and reinstalled them fresh. Was still having problems with QT operating normally for a short time and then back to the "?" again until I rebooted and it would operate normally for a while.

Suddenly dawned on me that the Launch Services Database my be corrupt. I did a 'get into' on a jpg file on my desktop and the looked at the drop down 'open with' menu. sure enough there were multiple duplicate items. I used Cocktail to rebuild the Launch Services Database and I haven't had any problems for the past 4 hours.

Not positive this is the final solution but it does seem to fit the symptoms. Seems worth a try for anyone else with similar problems.
