Okay, I hope I can explain this coherently.

In Safari 3 (we are using 10.4.11 PPC) it seems like the address bar autocomplete function is behaving quite differently from the way that it did in Safari 2.x

It appears that the default suggestion in Safari 3 is to show the base level domain (i.e. www.apple.com) even if we only have a history or bookmark entry for a deep link (i.e www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio)

In the past I have been accustomed to just typing the first few letters of an address/hitting return and being taken directly to my bookmarked location. Now, I have to select the actual address if it is anything other than a base level domain...

Is this the way things are supposed to work or is there some adjustment I can make to my bookmarks to have the autocomplete show only my actual deep links??

I was one of the many who are immensely pleased that THIS IS FINALLY FIXED.

However, you raise a good point.

I don't think we need a preference setting for this, though: The tweak I'd like to see is autocomplete to deep links if they're in my bookmarks, and to the base domain if they're from my history.
