I've been scanning some photos using imagecapture, and suddenly, when I import one into iPhoto, the thumbnail is black, the photo is there when I click on it though.
It is only this most recent scan, and not other photos that I drag to iPhoto - any ideas? I have tried loading it into Graphic Converter and re-saving it, no luck.

I had similar issues. So, I clicked on the photo, clicked on "edit", then clicked "done". Photo now seems to stay in the event. Still working my way through the scans, though, editing and correcting dates, etc. and have not gotten to those photos with issues, so can't say for sure that my photos are really there, but for now they seem to be fine.

Hold down command and option when you launch iPhoto, choose "rebuild thumbnails" and see if that helps.
