Hi Everyone.
My first time, here. So, please forgive me if this topic has been exhausted already and
someone point me at archive posts !
Is there a definitive, proven way to play Real Media video files in either ffMpegX or VLC
or Quicktime and transcode both the video and the audio to another format and/or
container type ?
All the information I have is from the ffMpegX website and online help, and this seems
to relate to stuff which has been moved (removed ?) from the Helix site(s). Most of the
posts thrown up on a Google of the subject seem to date from 2006 (latest) or before.
Is there a political/licensing/sheer bloody-mindedness issue between Real and the
rest of the community ?
It would be so handy to take material encoded as .rm and make it into a .mov so that
it could be trimmed and used in FCP or iMovie. Why does this seem to be so difficult
to find a solution to ? Virtually every other codec is available, from one source or
another, to enable comprehensive transcoding. Why not from .rm ?
Thanks
Chris
