I have no idea how this happened but my iPhoto won't start. When I click on it I get a window that says:

The application iPhoto quit unexpectedly.
Mac OS X and other applications are not affected.
Click Relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple.

So then I click on relaunch and the same window comes up again. I do the same again and a new window comes up:

Do you want to reset aplication settings for iPhoto?
The application quit unexpectedly after it was relaunched. Resetting the application settings may fix the problem.
You will be given the opportunity to restore your original settings when you quit the application.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? I already tried reinstalling and I still have the same problem. HELP!

Have you tried holding down 'option' while you start iPhoto?

I would try cmd-option and use some of the rebuilding options.

I tried but I literally get one bounce in my dock. Any other suggestions? Any idea what may be wrong with it?

Bump.

I tried the option key and cmd-option key. But because I only get one bounce it doesn't allow me that opportunity. Anyone else that can help?

I have an old version of iPhoto would deleting this and installing a newer version fix this problem?

How old is it?
Do you have the same problem in other user accounts?

The computer is from 2003. It's so bizarre. I would think that after deleting and re-installing would fix this problem. And yes, this same problem happens with other accounts.

No, how old is your copy of iPhoto?
What have you reinstalled, iPhoto, or the OS? It sounds like a problem with iPhoto, and could be related to the Application support files. Did you remove them when you deleted it, or just drag the app to the bin?

Peeb: My iPhoto is the version that came installed with my Mac and that is 2003. I reinstalled from my original restore disk ("additional applications.pkg") So I did not reinstall the OS X. When I deleted it, I just dragged and dropped it into the bin. What is the proper way of doing this? I appreciate the help.

So I presume you have everything backed op?
Go to library> Application support, and delete iPhoto from that.

Thanks for the tip everyone. I got it fixed when I installed my friend's iLife 06. I still don't know what caused it but at least it works now.

Glad you got it fixed. You might want to consider not pirating software though - it's pretty anti-social.

I too have the same problem with iPhoto. I recently installed Leopard. After the installation I have not been able to open iPhoto and get the same error message. I don't really want to buy iLife to get around the issue. My iPhoto is 2004 version.

Can someone help me get this working again.

Thanks
