Hello everyone,
I'm still somewhat of an OS X newbie. My Mac's been working fantastically for the most part, and I'm really happy with it. But I'm currently having problems with 2 video files experiencing very choppy playback. It's a 1080p movie encoded in mpeg-4 video and ac3 audio in an mkv container. My default player is vlc, where the choppy video occurs. When I installed the Perian package and played the file with Quicktime, the choppiness was somewhat alleviated, but experienced bursts of static from the audio (which was kinda funny, sounded like farts, immature, i know). Mplayer works pretty much the same as vlc. Can anyone point me in the right direction, perhaps a suggestion to transcode it to a friendlier format? I know my computer has enough horsepower to play hd videos without problems.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
