Hi

Our iChat suddenly quit working in the video mode recently and cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on.

We can get video link between two machines on the same network using Bonjour but cannot get video with other machines remotely (who are on the buddy list). This applies whether we are originating the call or the party at the other end is.

I don't think the situation started when we switched to Leopard. The only clue that may have affected it is our ISP was off air for almost a full day. The only related clue was from a remote party getting a message saying something like an invalid IP address. From our end it says so and so has declined your invitation

Cannot find anything so far in the forums dealing with this issue. Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks

This is quite discouraging. One week, 125 viewers. NO feedback at all.

Checking on other threads and other forums - including Apple - and one has to ask the question "Does anyone have any real knowledge of iChat on a technical level on these forums?"

My only clue I discovered today is that my IP had changed at the ISP level for some strange reason and when a remote back could not video connect to me he got an error message referring to an invalid IP address or the like (a few days ago now).

One more attempt at a question. If I uninstall iChat can one just reinstall that program only from Leopard?

Thanks

You may need to enable port forwarding on your router. That may resolve WAN (Internet) connectivity issues.

Thanks for this. I use Airport Extreme. Can you perhaps explain a bit by what you mean with 'port forwarding'?

Thanks

Amru - thanks for the lead. Unfortunately the guidance there is for an earlier version of the software (that came out under 10.4) and the function they refer to no longer exists!

Could not find a way to lead a message on that site to suggest they update it.

Appreciate the help though. Thanks

As noted above I am using the Airport Extreme with the latest software as my router.
