Just recently installed Entourage 04 and I am trying to connect to the company exchange 03 server. I have been able to successfully download all email messages/calenders/contacts etc. Problem is that I can't send. I am at the office on the lan, and outlook 07 works. Also we are running the exchange/pdc/smtp/web all from one server box.

Error comes back 18596 HTTP Error: Resource not Found

I've done lots of searches but nothing has worked so far? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is your Exchange SMTP server name? Is it listening on port 25? "Resource not found" implies to me that the SMTP server cannot be contacted.

You can test to see whether the SMTP server is listening by entering the following into your terminal app:

telnet <machinename> 25

Thanks for the reply, I've check my smtp? Port 25 is open and smtp is started and accepting so I'm not sure what to check next.

I have been using Mac Mail with no issues using the same server, it is setup as IMAP.

Interesting...

To put it bluntly, Entourage (features/UI aside and what it brings to the table Exchange server wise) is a horribly designed mail client. OS X Mail is actually not a whole lot better outside of its great UI, but it is at least marginally better. If you are not having these same issues with a different client, the problem does probably lie with Entourage, which is not surprising. Don't think for a minute that just because Microsoft makes Entourage that it is a great Exchange client, that would be counter intuitive
