hi, i know there are the minimum specs posted by apple to run the new version of logic, but i was wondering if anyone is running it on an 'older machine' at the bottom of the spec range.

I use a G4 PB 1.67 at home with logic 7...soon to be 8, and a motu ultralite.

When i play live, i want to use the laptop/logic as a multi effects unit only (no record or playback), i want to pick up a 2nd hand PB or ibook and run Logic 8, so....is anyone running L8 on an ibook or slower PB?

thanks!

actually, the older machines will be okay as recording or playback machines - it's the effects and virtual instrument plug-ins that will really kill them!

good point! i guess playback n rec has drive speed to consider...my 1.67ghz G4 PB runs loads of plugins, exs2 AND audio tracks so i figure something a little less powerful should be able to handle maybe 8 plugins and doing nothing else..

Im just curious if there is someone whos running some 'old' machine into the ground and rockn logic all night long!

cheers

I've changed the title somewhat and moved this to Applications, since the thread is more about how Logic 8 will run on older laptop hardware (PowerBook and/or iBook), not necessarily only a PowerBook.
