We have many machines here at the college that have the full version of QT installed and I was wondering if there is away to hide the QT SN# from being seen in the Preferences Panel. The is no lock option for who see's the panel, so this means that regular students can see this info.

Tks,

It may be an option to edit the nib file to hide or remove the field.

The nib file can be edited with Interface Builder.

The file is located at:

/System/Library/PreferencePanes/QuickTime.prefPane/Contents/Resources/QTRegister.prefPane/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/QTRegisterPref.nib

You may even be able to simply remove the .nib (possibly)
I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

Hmm, ya, good point, but I'm sure there would be something that's not locked off that they would want , but could be something to try if nothing else.

Tks,

To be honest I wouldn't worry about it, if students want to steal the QT password it not your problem, its Apples for making it so visible.
