I installed NAV10. My finder windows now list 4 copies of my Macintosh HD but only 1 is on my desktop. As well, there is a new item visible when I click on Macintosh HD named BaseSystem.pkg.somegobbledeegook.

Did Norton turn on viewing of hidden system files or something like that? How can I put this back to the way it was.

Thanks

Norton sucks. I would get rid of it completely.

That's my opinion anyway. There will be a bunch of folks that tell you there is nothing wrong with norton, but I've seen it break more installs than i've seen it find viruses.

Are the strange files still there after a reboot? It does sound as if you're seeing hidden files.

I know it sucks and I haven't used it in years but I'm being conservative and giving it another shot.

The extra "Macintosh HD" entries disappeared on a reboot, however, I still have:
- BaseSystem.pkg.144gibberish showing up in the root of my HD
- aliases for etc, tmp, and usr showing up in the root of my HD

It does look like Norton turned on visibility of hidden system files. How could I hide these again if I wanted to?

Thanks
