I recently bought a used powerbook G4, it worked great untill i tried updating the OS X version it had. It might have been something I did, but to get on with it I purchased a new recovery disc and install disc for the powerbook, I just wanted to know the easiest and safest way to install it on the laptop with n problems.

What exactly did you purchase? There really isn't a 'recovery disc' for OSX. Did you get a full retail copy of OSX 10.4 or 10.5 or something different?

Apple PowerBook Mac OS 9 Install & restore disks. Apple PowerBook Mac OS X Install & restore disks. Also includes iPhoto version 1.0, and Apple Hardware Test disk.

If you don't have any data on it you care about, just do a clean installation. This wipes the hard drive.
