I just switched to a mac from Pc...new here. Ok, i have no clue or time to figure out how to create a doc in Excel but i'd like a file that i can just enter in my total miles each time i take a trip for my business, but i don't want to have to remember the actual reading on my odometer. I have used google maps to calculate the travel miles and i have been entering that into a Word file and putting where i went and the total miles under each time out. Then i have had to go over each page and tally up the # of miles. Don't want to do that insanity anymore and i'd like a solution.
Thanks in advance,
Kev

Just put that same mileage in Excel's cells, then use the sum function to calculate.

If you enter your mileage in cells A1 to A20 (as an example). Then, in cell A22, type =sum(a1..a20)

then press Enter

You can use =sum in any cell you want though.

Excel will auto-correct to the colon after pressing Enter, but it'll take ..

I guess it's force of habit using .. instead of colon. Dunno why.
