Hello, I have an annoyance with iTunes and I'm not sure if there is a fix for it or not. I have my media folder on an external hard drive. I use a macbook pro however, so I do not always have my external hooked up. My problem is that whenever my hard drive is not hooked up, and I use iTunes, the media folder gets changed back to the default user/music/itunes media.

It's annoying then when I have to go back and change it to my hard drive, because it takes a few minutes to change things back around. I realize iTunes has to change the folder so it has somewhere to put media. and I know I could just remember not to use iTunes without my external hooked up, but it's easy to forget or not realize you didn't hook up the drive. So is there a way to lock this choice or something? thanks for your help.

You could keep your iTunes library (iTunes Database File) on the external along with your media files. This way, you can hold down Option when iTunes starts up, select the library file on the external, and all your settings will be as you left them. iTunes will still create a library file if you start it up without your external connected, but you can just ignore it, because your prefs and paths will be preserved by keeping the itunes database file on the external.
