I have a powerbook
g4 1.5Ghz
1.25GB ram
OS X.4.11

I am running adobe lightroom V 1.3 with poor results. everything is sluggish I am not able to work for very long on anything because I have to sit and wait for my computer to catch up. I am getting the Beachball all to often. Am I expecting too much from an older machine? My photo Library is under 4K images. They are half RAW and half JPG. I have plenty of drive space open and my library is on my internal HD. Any help would be appreciated.

Adobe says:
For the Mac OS, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom requires Mac OS X version 10.4 (Tiger) or higher, a 1GHz or faster PowerPC G4 or G5 processor or Intel Core Duo processor (including iBook G4 or PowerBook G4), and 768 MB of RAM (although more is recommended), and 1 GB or more of free hard drive space.
It looks like you're on the lower end of those specs. And we all know how companies often set the bar very low, knowing that there's no way it'd run well on the bottom-end specs.

I would not run Lightroom, or Aperture, on a G4. They both do tax the processor and the G4 will be reaching it's limits.
