Is there an application I can use to hardcode .srt files to a video? I know how to use the .srt while watching the video but how can I permanently merge the two? I tried a search but didn't come up with too much.

I actually found Submerge which seems to be able to merge the .srt with video. Anyone have experience with this app? Ideally not needing to re-encode just to add subs would be great. I'm not sure if that's possible though.

Have you tried to open it with QuickTime once you have Perian 1.1 installed?, maybe closing the movie while saving changes could merge both… I can't give it a try, for some weird reason I can't see subtitles within QT even with Perian 1.1 installed… I have read than deleting some files from /Library/QuickTime would help to get subtitles back, albeit I haven't had them ever on QT, I have to rely on VLC to use .srt files…
