I am desperate for a replacement of the DropDraws application for Leopard, DragThing’s draws are not workable in my context. I would be most grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks for the reply JKT, TabMeister appears to be a application launcher, DropDraws main function is to store text clippings and to make them conveniently available, I store up to 50 clipping at a time which are constantly changing.

I had never heard of DropDraws before. It's a clipboard enhancement? There are many of those available.

Hi Big Mac, DropDraws stores text clippings, in my case taken from my work in QuarkXpress, there can be a large number of these clippings, DropDraws works as a Popout Draw, I have used it for years in OS9, it was taken over by Dragthing but not implemented well, I would be pleased to here of any suggestions as to alternatives.

The correct spelling is Drop Drawers. It was a set of dual function tabs, used to store clippings as well as be an application/file launcher. Sort of like the tabbed windows in Finder 8 and 9, but improved, and you can put them everywhere around the screen. It was ported to OS X, but unfortunately not touched a lot since then. The developer apparently wanted out, collaborated with the maker of Dragthing to provide for an upgrade path and ended development. I'm a long time user as well, and I did not like this one bit. The drawers are not Dragthing's main focus, although I'll admit to not really giving it a chance.
Anyway, there are a few options. You can still drag clippings to the Desktop - set up one corner to trigger the Show Desktop Exposé action and you can drag more or less like you always could. You can put a folder in the Dock and drag things to it - that's probably what the stacks were intended to be used for. You can put a folder on the desktop and drag things to - access it with the Exposé trick above, and open the folder when you want the stuff. You can use a clipboard enhancement - I prefer PTHPasteboard, but there are many.

Thanks “P” I will try PTHPasteboard, I see they do a Professional one which might be interesting. There is nothing to beat Drop Draws especially with there pop out ability and almost infinite adjustability.
