Whenever I get documents as attachments or have to download from our school's website, they are always in .doc format. Whenever I try to open it, it brings up MS Word (which takes like 10 seconds just to open, since it's 2004 running through Rosetta).
To open these in pages, I have to open finder, find my downloads folder, right click on what I want to open, and then click open with pages (and it says MS word is the default right there too).
How do I change the default app to open it? I have a feeling I'm missing something really really easy but I just cannot seem to figure this out.
Thanks for the help.

Get Info window on a Word file, select Open With, choose Pages and then click change all.

Thanks man.
I knewI had done it before (I think with video files) but that was just annoying the hell out of me since I upgraded to leopard (and lost my previous setting for .doc).
Thanks again.

Check out an application called Default Apps. Once installed it will show up in the System Preferences screen. It will be listed under other. Not only can you change what application opens .doc files; it will allow you to set default apps for almost any application or action on your Mac including what action should be taken when different types of media are inserted into the DVD/CD drive.

The CDs&DVDs menu under system preferences already does that.
Thanks for the link though, (unless it's spam), Ill check it out sometime.

The app itself seems pointless though.
