Panther had it right!
Is there any equivalent for Tiger. What the OS offers natively is exasperating.
It takes a shotgun approach, immediately searching with the first keystroke.
Much preferable is Panther's ready, aim, fire method -- first allowing precise targeting, then searching.
What, if anything, can be done about this dilemma?

In the day of System 7, UltraFind could be substituted -- accessed by pressing Command + F. Is there any similar fix for Tiger's Finder Search?

Maybe a third-party application. Moving there...

Thanks Turtle, that's a great improvement.
Recognizing Capitalization too! -- have been missing that since UltraFind.

Now, if I could just select specific Volumes, and an option to configure Spotlaser to be invoked with Command + F -- but then, what-the-hay. I'll send'm a few bucks, and maybe they'll work on it.

Still befuddled as to why Apple, among others, keep "fixin'" things that ain't broke.

Why not use Spotlight, choose Show All, then start drilling down the limitations you want?
