Even in Tiger, Monaco 10 text was displayed without antialiasing in Eudora 6.2. But now it's everywhere. Does anyone know how to disable it again?

Try changing the antialiasing threshold in the Appearance preferences.

Thanks a million. I guess Tiger wasn't respecting the threshold-- but now Leopard is!

I think there were enhancements to the Carbon API's Eudora uses in Leopard that gave them the antialiasing previously only available in Cocoa apps.

I really find antialiasing much better at nearly any font size, especially with a good monitor that has been properly calibrated.

The best solution for me was to turn off Quartz rendering in Eudora the "Fonts & Display" preferences. I disagree with Thinine about antialiasing being better at nearly any font size. Have you tried highlighting antialiased text?

Fine to you in which app? Eudora? Using Monaco? Those are the conditions under which I provided the snapshot above.
