Hi, I hope this has not been posted before, but I didn't find anything about that problem. I'm using Photoshop CS3 and from time to time, it won't let me save my work, saying there was a "program error", without further explanation... I don't remember if the problem existed before I upgraded to Leopard or not.

I tried saving the file as a copy, and under different format than the native PSD, nothing works. The only thing I can do is "Save for web and devices", which works perfectly. My system is pretty much "plain vanilla": I didn't install any hack or third-party add-on like font managers, and my OS and applications are up to date.

Any idea? I have a few open documents that cannot be saved, and I don't want to lose what I have just done...

Why not copy and paste what you have done into Illustrator and save it there at least for now, are you having the same issues in Illustrator? Are you running 10.4.x or 10.5.x? You may have to try un-installing and re-installing it again. Have you contacted support at Adobe for advice on this?

That's what I thought I would do as a last resort (I'm not familiar with Illustrator, I mainly use Photoshop and InDesign, and my documents contain about 20 layers each, it will be a real hassle to copy and paste them all one by one, and re-do the layout )

I'm running 10.5.2 (Leopard). I don't remember if the problem existed under 10.4. I will contact Adobe tomorrow, but I didn't find the issue mentionned anywhere on their forums or using Google. Thank you!

Do you have a legit copy, or something you bought on eBay?

If it's eBay, well...

Otherwise, I'd register the copy (if you haven't already done so), and call Adobe.

Or reinstall (don't forget to deauthorize before that, and then to authorize again, or you might lose one of your two copies).

Did you have any major crashes lately? When did it start t happen? You said it happens from time to time. How often? 10% of all attempts to save? More? Less?

100% legit copy, I bought the Creative Suite Design Premium from Apple when I bought my iMac. At 400$, it was a steal, thou

The software was a pain to install. I tried a dozen times using different techniques but nothing worked. Finally I had to enable the root user, reboot and install it as root for it to work... I wasn't aware the was some kind of authorization, I thought I only had to re-enter my serial number from the box.

No crash lately. Well I can't quantify the frequency of the problem. When it doesn't work, it doesn't work at all, no matter how many times I try. If it works, it will work 100% of the time as long as I don't quit PS.

In the meantime, is there a way to save it without copying one layer at a time in another program?
