I'm rather upset with Microsoft for not including OCR tools with Office versions for Mac OS X, when they do as a standard part of the "Pro" level of the Windows product line. I've been depending on "Office Tools" for scanning and OCR since I first noticed that function several years ago, and I generally have to boot into XP to scan or OCR anything. Having accessible OCR tools would be a great thing, especially if they came with Office.

DEVONthink Pro Office handles OCR well, although I think their solution is not native and it's probably a more complex solution than what you're looking for.

Doesn't Preview do some form of OCR?

Adobe Acrobat does a pretty good job. It ain't cheap, though.
