Is there a way to do rich formatting of my email without having to dig through menus?

Basically I want options for bold/italic/underline, changing fonts, and colors, and the bullet list buttons just like most email programs have (offline and online software). For example, see the buttons above the advanced edit form on the forum, something like that.

I use lists frequently in my emails, and having to go through the menus to do so is just pointless in my opinion. I'm hoping there's a better way than this:

You can create custom keyboard shortcuts in the Keyboard pane of System Preferences. So you can make it so you just have to hit, for example, command-option-B and it'll do the Insert Bulleted List command.

There's an option to add a Lists button to the mail compose toolbar under Mail --> New Message --> View --> Customize Toolbar.

It is a bit odd that you can't view the Cocoa ruler in Mail if you are in Rich Text mode, because that would be the solution to your desires. Keyboard shortcuts are the only way you can go for the moment.
