Can anyone recommend a good free dual pane FTP program? Does such a thing even exist? I'm running 10.4.11 at the moment. When I buy a new Macbook Pro this summer/fall I'm going to buy Transmit, but I'd like a good program to work with until then. I'm using CyberDuck at the moment, and while some might find it useful, it really makes me want to bang my head against the wall sometimes.

There's also FileZilla FileZilla - Client Download

I like Filezilla on Windows and Linux, but on the Mac, it works fine, it just doesn't feel quit right. I usually end up using cyberduck + finder window and drag/drop between the two on my Mac.

Fugu is a good FTP program.

However, I'd also recommend MacFUSE + MacFusion.

Oh man do I love MacFUSE + MacFusion. It mounts my SFTP right to my desktop like a normal network drive. I just drag & drop files. Unlike Finder's integrated FTP, this one is fast!. It's just like navigating your hard drive. There are numerous plugins for FUSE for various protocols and file systems, including NTFS (yep, read & write to NTFS.)

You might be interested in ExpanDrive (Mac version of SFTPDrive).

$30 for ExpanDrive vs free for MacFusion with identical usability.

ExpanDrive is faster and more stable. YMMV.

Maybe, but as far as free goes, MacFUSE and MacFusion are pretty darn fast, and I've had no stability issues.

MacFUSE is many things- awesome, convenient, flexible, did I mention awesome? But the sshfs available for it is ANYTHING but fast. I normally get 3-4x the speed using scp from the command line over MacFUSE + sshfs.
